The project

The requirement

Doncaster Council commissioned a 100-foot mural documenting the town’s history and heritage along hoardings around The Corn Exchange during a major revamp. The finished street art needed lasting protection in a busy public location.

What had to be solved

A newly completed public mural on temporary hoardings around a town-centre construction site was immediately exposed to tagging risk, weather and heavy footfall. Without protection, the artwork would have been vulnerable to vandalism and expensive to restore.

How the system was applied

The mural was painted by graffiti artist SPzero76, who grew up in Doncaster. Once complete, Doncaster Council’s graffiti removal team applied Urban Hygiene’s clear anti-graffiti glaze across the full length of the piece, creating an invisible barrier that allows future tags to be wiped away without damaging the original work.

What changed

The heritage mural remains protected and readable in a high-traffic public realm setting. Council teams can remove unwanted graffiti quickly, keeping the artwork presentable for residents and visitors throughout the Corn Exchange works and beyond.

Customer view

Protecting the mural at application stage meant the artwork could stay free from unwanted vandalism for many years to come.
