Cleaning algae and green growth from render, brick and paving

Our algae remover is a ready-to-use façade and render cleaner. Its biocide kills algae, green moss and wall lichens and breaks down mould and mildew. Paramagnetic cleaning technology cuts through dirt, grime, traffic film and gutter stains, and helps the surface repel future soiling.

It is made for soft wash cleaning, so a pressure washer is optional.

It is a cleaner, not a sealer or protective coating. If you plan to paint or seal afterwards, rinse thoroughly and let the surface dry fully first.

Chewing gum on pavements and entrances

Chewing Gum Remover is a ready-to-use 500 ml spray that softens chewing gum, candle wax and other gummy residue so it can be scraped away. It works on pavements and most hard surfaces, and on carpets and upholstery indoors. It is flammable, so keep it away from heat and flames.

Sealing paving and driveways

Pavement Sealer is an invisible, breathable treatment for concrete, brick and natural stone paving. Once it is on, chewing gum, oil and grease bond only weakly, so in most cases routine sweeping lifts them away, and its fungicide kills moss, lichen and algae. It suits high streets, precincts and the paving outside takeaways. Allow about 5 m² per litre per coat and 24 hours before the area is used.

Block Paving Sealer is a clear sealer for block paving, driveways, paths and pavements. It resists oil, petrol, grease and brake fluid, protects against tyre marks and brings out the colour of the pavers.

For floors, Floor Primer is a moisture-tolerant primer for green concrete, damp substrates, masonry and wood before a self-adhesive damp-proof membrane. It is touch dry in around 30 minutes.

How to apply and rinse safely

  • Patch-test first, especially on coloured render, painted surfaces and fabrics.
  • Protect planting: pre-wet nearby vegetation, stop run-off reaching drains and watercourses, and rinse planting afterwards.
  • Apply Algae Remover as supplied. Contact time depends on the conditions and how heavy the growth is. Don’t let it dry; reapply or leave it longer on stubborn growth.
  • Agitate stubborn areas with a brush or cloth, then rinse or pressure-wash away the loosened dirt.
  • Apply sealers to a clean, dry surface, and don’t apply them outdoors if rain is expected while they dry.
  • Chewing Gum Remover is flammable. Keep it away from heat, sparks and naked flames.
  • Wear suitable gloves and eye or face protection, and read each product’s safety data sheet.

For councils, schools, housing and facilities teams

Algae Remover is designed for FM teams, building managers and building cleaning professionals, and suits maintenance on public buildings, campuses and estates. Pavement Sealer comes in 5 and 25 litres for town centres, precincts and forecourts. For a large façade, a high street or a planned maintenance programme, contact our team and we’ll help you estimate quantities.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove green algae from render?

Patch-test a discreet area, then spray Algae Remover onto the render as supplied. Leave it long enough for the biocide to act without letting it dry, agitate stubborn areas with a brush or cloth, then rinse or pressure-wash. It suits K-rend and other renders, but test coloured render first.

Do I need a pressure washer to clean algae off walls and paving?

No. Algae Remover is made for soft wash cleaning: spray it on, allow contact time, then rinse. A pressure washer is optional, but it speeds things up on large or heavily soiled areas.

Can I clean algae off paths, paving and decking?

Yes. Algae Remover works on horizontal surfaces such as decking, tarmac, walkways and hard landscaping as well as on walls. Avoid pooling, and don’t let it dry during the contact time.

Is algae cleaning safe near uPVC windows, plastics and plants?

Algae Remover is safe on uPVC, plastics and polycarbonate, and on fabric awnings and canopies. Test a small area first. Protect planting by pre-wetting it, stopping run-off reaching watercourses and rinsing it after cleaning.

How much Algae Remover do I need?

There is no fixed coverage rate. It depends on the surface, how porous it is and how heavy the growth is. It comes ready to use in 5 litres, from £19.79 incl. VAT. For a large façade or planned programme, contact our team for an estimate.

How do I remove chewing gum from paving?

Spray Chewing Gum Remover onto the gum, leave it to soften and scrape it off. Then apply a further coat and work it in with a non-scratch scouring pad. Treat the clean, dry paving with Pavement Sealer to stop new gum bonding.

Pavement Sealer or Block Paving Sealer?

Pavement Sealer is an invisible, breathable treatment for pedestrian paving that stops chewing gum, oil and grease bonding, with a fungicide against moss and algae. Block Paving Sealer is a clear sealer for driveways and block paving that resists oil, petrol and tyre marks and brings out the paver colours.
