Anti-Graffiti Paint & Coatings

Choose anti-graffiti paint or a graffiti protection coating by how the surface should look afterwards and how you will clean it. The clear glaze and the clear, coloured and non-stick paints are permanent. The sacrificial coating washes off with the graffiti and is reapplied.

Which anti-graffiti paint or coating do you need?

Each product here puts a barrier between the surface and the graffiti, so spray paint and marker clean off instead of being painted over. No paint is truly graffiti-proof, but on a protected surface a tag comes off again. Choose a graffiti-resistant paint or coating by the look you want, whether old graffiti needs covering and your cleaning equipment.

Type Finish How graffiti comes off Choose it for
Permanent clear glaze Clear gloss Compatible remover or wipes; the glaze stays on Long-life clear protection, indoors or out
Water-washable clear paint Clear, breathable; gloss to semi-matt Water or mild detergent Keeping the look of facades and walls
Coloured anti-graffiti paint Any RAL colour; gloss to semi-matt Tap water or pressure washer Covering old graffiti in one job
Sacrificial anti-graffiti coating Almost imperceptible, breathable Hot-water wash removes both; reapply Natural, listed and heritage masonry
Non-stick paint for stickers and fly-posters Clear matt Posters peel off; graffiti washes off with water Street furniture, shutters and lampposts

When to choose each

  • Permanent clear glaze: for surfaces tagged again and again. Two-pack, usually one coat, and withstands hundreds of graffiti removals. From £65.99 incl. VAT. For murals, the same glaze is sold as Art Varnish for artwork.
  • Clear paint: single pack and breathable, so moisture vapour can escape. It will not hide marks already there. 5 litres, £230.99 incl. VAT.
  • Coloured paint: one coat protects a clean wall; two coats cover existing or dark graffiti. Four standard shades or any RAL colour on request, for external use. 5 litres, £277.19 incl. VAT.
  • Sacrificial coating: keeps the natural look of brick, stone and concrete. Each hot-water wash removes it, so reapply after every clean (the same day is fine). Vertical surfaces only. 5 litres, £115.49 incl. VAT.
  • Non-stick paint: stops glue, paste and Superglue bonding, so posters fall away or peel off. 5 litres, £230.99 incl. VAT.

Surfaces

The clear glaze goes on concrete, brick, stone, masonry, render, tile, plaster, sealed timber, prepared or powder-coated metal and existing paintwork. Clear paint suits stone, brick, concrete, masonry and painted surfaces. Coloured paint goes on concrete, brick, masonry, metal and timber. On sandstone and brick, the clear, coloured and non-stick paints need a non-darkening primer first. The sacrificial coating suits brick, stone, concrete and terracotta but can dull polished stone and tiles. Do not coat uncoated polycarbonate; protect the frames around it instead.

Coverage and coats

The clear glaze covers 9–33 m² per litre, depending on porosity and texture: about 4–14 m² from 420 ml, 20–74 m² from 2.25 litres and 40–148 m² from 4.5 litres. One coat is usual; porous surfaces take a thin first coat and a second light coat 3–4 hours later. Use the coverage calculator on the clear glaze page.

The clear, coloured and non-stick paints cover 8–10 m² per litre, about 40–50 m² per 5 litre tin in one coat. Two coats of coloured paint need twice as much. The sacrificial coating covers 2–6 m² per litre and usually needs two coats.

Cleaning graffiti off a protected surface

On the clear glaze, tags release with a compatible remover or Graffiti Wipes, and water or pressure washing works on smooth, robust surfaces. Wait 7 days after coating before using a chemical remover. The clear and coloured paints wash with water or mild detergent. The sacrificial coating comes off with the graffiti under a pressure wash at about 90°C and 80–90 bar. Avoid abrasive pads, which can dull the gloss. Find removers in graffiti removal products.

For councils, schools, housing and facilities teams

Where the same walls are tagged repeatedly, a permanent coating means fewer repaint cycles and faster clean-ups. Councils, schools and facilities managers use the clear glaze in corridors, stairwells, subways and shelters. Coloured paint matches existing colours across council estates, and non-stick paint protects cabinets and roller shutters from fly-posters. For large or unusual surfaces, contact the team before ordering. Not sure which type fits? Help me choose

Frequently asked questions

Is anti-graffiti paint the same as an anti-graffiti coating?

The terms are used for the same job. The clear, coloured and non-stick products are single-pack paints; Anti-Graffiti Coating is a two-pack glaze that goes on like paint and cures to a hard, clear gloss. All are permanent except the sacrificial coating.

Do you sell an anti-graffiti spray?

Every coating here can be applied with spray equipment as well as by brush or roller. To remove graffiti rather than prevent it, use Graffiti Remover Spray.

Will a clear coating change how the wall looks?

The clear glaze is gloss, not invisible, and can slightly deepen the tone of very porous brick or stone. Clear paint can add some sheen. Patch-test first, or choose the sacrificial coating if the surface must keep its natural look.

How long does anti-graffiti paint last?

The data sheet gives the clear glaze a proven 20-year life. The coloured paint has a typical life expectancy of 10 years when applied as directed. Inspect the glaze routinely and recoat when its sheen or beading diminishes.

Can I cover existing graffiti?

Yes, with the coloured paint: two coats obliterate existing or dark graffiti. The clear products show what is underneath, so remove marks or repaint with exterior masonry paint first.
